Privacy & Trust Principles

Last updated: April 30, 2026

MasteryGate is in beta. This page explains our current privacy and trust approach in plain language. It is a summary, not a replacement for our full Privacy Policy or Terms of Service.

1. MasteryGate works with content you choose to submit

Today, MasteryGate works with content you choose to submit directly.

MasteryGate does not scrape, bypass access controls, or automatically pull content from your school systems, learning-management systems, lecture platforms, cloud drives, or other third-party services.

If MasteryGate later offers an optional integration with a third-party service, we will disclose what the integration accesses and ask for any required authorization before enabling it.

You choose what to type, paste, upload, or send into MasteryGate.

Examples of content you may choose to submit include notes, questions, uploaded files, typed answers, study goals, and tutoring messages.

2. You keep the rights you already have

Submitting content to MasteryGate does not transfer ownership to us.

You keep whatever rights you already have in the content you submit. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to submit anything you upload or paste, including class notes, slides, textbook excerpts, lecture materials, screenshots, or other course content.

MasteryGate uses submitted content as described below, including to provide, personalize, secure, support, and improve the service.

3. We use submitted content to provide and improve your learning experience

MasteryGate may use submitted content to operate the product, personalize tutoring, generate study materials, create notes or flashcards, maintain session history, troubleshoot issues, protect the service, and respond to support or feedback that you choose to send.

MasteryGate does not sell your submitted study content.

Some submitted content may be processed by third-party service providers that help us operate MasteryGate, including AI, hosting, database, security, email delivery, and infrastructure providers.

4. MasteryGate does not train its own AI models on your content

MasteryGate is an AI tutoring service, not an AI model developer. We do not train foundation AI models or fine-tune MasteryGate-owned AI models on student content.

To provide tutoring responses and study materials, submitted content is sent to third-party AI providers as part of normal product operation. Those providers process content so MasteryGate can deliver the service.

5. We keep content only as long as needed for the service and related operations

MasteryGate may keep tutoring sessions, generated notes, flashcards, quizzes, summaries, account information, and learning-history information while your account or beta access is active, or as otherwise needed to provide the service.

We may also keep limited operational records for security, debugging, legal compliance, abuse prevention, and service reliability.

You may request deletion. Some information may remain for a limited time in backups or security logs, or longer where we are legally required or permitted to keep it.

6. Be careful with sensitive information

Please avoid submitting highly sensitive personal information to MasteryGate.

Examples of information you should avoid submitting include Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, passwords, API keys, bank information, private medical records, legal case documents, government IDs, or other sensitive personal records.

MasteryGate is a study tool. It is not a place to store sensitive personal documents.

7. Feedback and screenshots may be reviewed

If you submit feedback, comments, bug reports, screenshots, or support messages, we may review what you send so we can improve the product or respond to the issue.

If a feedback feature is public, information you choose to post there may be visible to others. Please do not include private information in public feedback.

8. MasteryGate is built for learning, not assignment completion

MasteryGate is designed to guide understanding, ask questions, and help students practice thinking through material.

It is not designed to complete graded work for you, write assignments for submission, or bypass academic rules. You are responsible for following your school's academic-integrity policies.

9. MasteryGate is not professional advice

MasteryGate may help students study legal, medical, financial, or professional topics, but it does not provide legal advice, medical advice, financial advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or professional services.

Use MasteryGate for learning and exam preparation. For real legal, medical, financial, or professional decisions, consult a qualified professional.

10. These practices will evolve as MasteryGate grows

MasteryGate is still in beta. As the product changes, we may update this page, the Privacy Policy, or the Terms of Service.

When we make material changes, we will update the relevant public documents.
